Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT)

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT) is a breast imaging technique, often called 3D mammography, where an X-ray tube sweeps in an arc over the compressed breast and takes a series of low-dose images from different angles.

The images are reconstructed into a stack of thin slices that can be scrolled through. This reduces a problem with standard 2D Mammograms, where overlapping tissue can hide a lesion or look like one. See Mammography.
