LaTeX

LaTeX is a typesetting system that is widely used for writing mathematical and scientific documents. It's built on top of Donald Knuth's TeX.

Its maths syntax is also the standard way to write equations in Markdown, rendered by libraries like MathJax and KaTeX. For example, $A \cap B$ renders as $A \cap B$ (see Intersection and Union).
