Slope-Intercept Form

Slope-Intercept Form is a way of writing the equation of a straight line as:

y=mx+b y = mx + b

Where mm is the slope (how much yy changes for each unit increase in xx) and bb is the y-intercept (the value of yy where the line crosses the y-axis, when x=0x = 0).

For example, y=2x+3y = 2x + 3 is a line that rises 2 units for every 1 unit across and crosses the y-axis at (0,3)(0, 3). See Linear Function.
