Scalar

A Scalar is a single number that only has a magnitude (size), unlike a Vector, which has both a magnitude and a direction.

Distance, speed, mass and temperature are examples of scalar quantities, whereas displacement and velocity are Vector Quantity.

In linear algebra, multiplying a vector by a scalar stretches or shrinks it, which is why it's called Vector Scaling.
